Sooo. I'm pretty much absent from the dA community and have been for the past year - at least.

If I'm honest, I've really outgrown my old 'kawaii-style' work at this point and the kind of work I produce nowadays, just doesn't really seem to get much traffic or interest on deviantART anymore - hence my total lack of posting ^^; Good news for me, is that I finally feel very happy with the work I'm producing again, something I feel I was grappling against for a long time.

However, dA was a really special site to me when I was younger and I have honestly met some of the coolest people here. I owe a lot of my improvement and growth as an artist to the site. Point is, I'll always have a soft spot for this place and occasionally I still check back.

In light of that, I wanted to leave up this journal and some links on my front page - in case anyone ever wants to catch up!

my website - back in January I published my website - exciting! It's led to a bunch of cool stuff for me and it's a good portfolio for the kind of work I'm producing now. Updates occationally.

my tumblr - the best place to follow me at the moment if you'd like to see updates and artwork. exclusively and artblog/personalblog, but sometimes (rarely) I reblog other bits. Updates somewhat regular.

I have a side blog which I do reblog from (nsfw), it's not very interesting lmao, but if you want to see it, just ask me on my main account.

So I'll leave that up on my page for you!

If you want to reach me or chat or anything, tumblr is the best place to reach me :meow:

Updates!

Well it wouldn't feel like a journal without one hehe. Not important, so feel free to skip. This has been a pretty good year for me so far. As mentioned above I have really settled into my own artwork and I feel really good about that. It feels like the hard work is starting to manifest into cool things too. This summer my work has been displayed in the Sandra Dieckmann exhibition, which is a huge achievement and honour for me, as Sandra is one of my favourite illustrators! I've also recently found out that a short animated film that a friend and myself have been working on has been shortlisted for the ANIMA 2014 award!! Genuinely shocked to have made the finalists. In October they'll be screening the 10 shortlisted films in London, down underground in the Brunel Shaft - soooo cool! I can't wait. If you're in town you should totally come!

Speaking of which, I am moving to London this September, I'm nervous and excited! I'm only going to be a short train away from my current home, but moving out is still scary and exciting heeee. I cannot bring my gerbil though /refrains from sobbing/

It will be nice to settle down and get back to studying again. The past year has been fun, but I'm also exhausted working soo many jobs in order to fund my travelling! I don't regret a moment though, I've been to Tokyo, Berlin, Provence so far and I have Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Munich, Prague, Vienna, Venice, Florene and Rome in a couple of weeks time to look forward to on my whirlwind interrail round Europe /jitters/ and whilst I love travelling, I think I'm ready to get back to studying again yay. My degree is Illustration Animation and I'm also planning to pick up a language class this year - hopefully in German.

That's all for now, be safe and keep in touch please!

/kiss u all everywhere/

Hey everyone, hope you're all well /kiss u all over/ I just have a few updates, etc...

tumblr

I've finally got an active artblog running on tumblr! It would mean a lot to me if you followed me there, you can see all my recent art too (I don't upload to dA that much anymore, but I will get round to it). Anyway, here's the link:

LULU'S SUPER ARTBLOG WOW

If you have an artblog too, let me know I'll follow you back - lets support each other as artists.
and I also love petplay, Little, nature, health, travel and 60s blogs, so if you have a blog like that, you should totally show me! >///<

tokyo

Woah woa I'm going to Japan next week! I'll be staying in Shinjuku in Tokyo and I'll be home at the end of March. I'll be posting a lot of photos/trip updates on my tumblr (link above) in case you want to see what I'm getting up to. My main concern is visiting the bunny cafe aaahhhhha. I think I really want to go Sanrio Puroland and Tokyo Disneyland too haaha I am actually a small child. The shrines and gardens look so lovely too. Ohmygosh there's actually so much I want to do out there, I hope I have time for it all. If any of you guys have been before (and I know some of you have!) then I'd love any advice/tips/recommendations from you<3 I really, really need to brush up on my (very weak) Japanese too, I'm gonna be brave and try and speak it out there >u<

I'm not sure what my other travel plans are atm. I've been working a lot and saving up, but the flights and accommodation in Tokyo is very expensive, so I'm not sure what else I can afford beyond that. I'd really love to explore Indochina, they look like beautiful places mmmmm... /muses to self/

nothing land

My original graphic novel NOTHING LAND is making some real progress. At the moment, it's exclusively readable here, but I will be uploading it to dA at a later date.

art school

All my portfolio interviews have finished. I got all the offers I wanted (such an incredible relief ahah) including Bournemouth, Ravensbourne and Kingston. Right before I sent off my application, I found the perfect course for me - I know I said that before, but I honestly found an even better one!! It's at Kingston to study Illustration & Animation, where I'll be able to focus on 2D animation - my favourite. It's in London and I'll have the opportunity to spend a year abroad. I think the most exciting thing about it is, one of my favourite artists and inspirations, Julia Pott, was taught as a student there  I can't believe the same teachers who taught her will be teaching me /sobs uncontrollably and rolls around/

Anyway, it's quite a prestigious and small course - I've recently been informed they accept 65 students from around 800 applicants ^^; So I'm incredibly lucky to have the chance to go there. Honestly guys, when I had the email to find out whether I got accepted or not, my heart was pounding so hard I was so nervous ;; I'm so so thrilled I was accepted! I'm confirmed my place there, so I'm all set and ready to move to London in September now!

Okay I think that's all from me.
tl;dr for new art and my travel updates/photo, please follow my tumblr: lulumightbite.tumblr.com/

wishing you a lovely week /waves/

Hello everyone, hope you've been well! /kiss for u/ <3

Things have been so busy for me recently, I am absolutely exhausted, but I've just had a lot of tea, so right now I feel kinda hyper /jitters/

First up sorry for my inactivity here, I come back occasionally, but honestly I don't think I'll be back for good. So I hope you don't mind me popping back every now and then with some illustrations and updates, etc.. If you like my art and you wanna keep up to date, please like my facebook page! It's my most active place for art at the moment, PLUS, there are a lot of free print giveaways to my followers there. Check it out, all you need to do is hit 'like'

I've also been uploading my graphic novel there too, I will begin to upload it to deviantART too, but right now it's exclusively readable on facebook. First five pages of NOTHING LAND are viewable right here.

This month I've been working at a literary agency in London and oh my goodness it's been so exciting and overwhelming! I thought my jobs would be limited to making coffees and scanning and photocopying, but I have been dealing with clients and sitting in on meetings wah!! The agency are responsible for some really big British films and I also deal with submissions, so I read a lot of scripts everyday too. It's really enjoyable and the agency are absolutely lovely, but it's really wearing me down commuting to London every single day. It doesn't help that I work the weekends as a waitress too, I literally have no free time this month TTwTT;; I am thinking about leaving my waitress job soon, but we'll see.

On that matter, if my plan stays the same, I am moving to London later this year! I recently found the perfect Animation degree in the middle of one of favourites cities<3 It's at Ravensbourne, the location is so good and the course is absolutely right for me. I had a portfolio interview there last week. DESPITE it being one of my top choice universities, I still left it until the night before the interview to put my portfolio together.. I don't know why I do this !! My boyfriend came over for a 'chilled' evening the night before and ended up helping with my portfolio until 5am I am so disorganised and so sorry TTwTT;;

HOWEVER, despite my awful ill-preparation, the interview went really well. The tutor interviewing me was absolutely lovely and I was given an unconditional offer, which means I can totally RELAX now, because I have a definite place on their Animation course next year aaahhh /rolls around happy/ <3 <3 <3 and i don't have to do a foundation year in art omg yessss

I have a lot of travel plans for this year too. I am so thrilled to be living in Tokyo for a few weeks in the spring. I am going to go to Tokyo Disneyland I don't care how old I am and if I end up going by myself I have never been to Disneyland before in my life TT_____TT I will make it the most magical day of my life. There's a bunny cafe in Tokyo too, I truly cannot wait to go and play with the bunnies there (I really, really hope it's ethical.....) I think they have an owl cafe and lots of kitten cafes too. Then in April, my boyfriend wants to go to Vienna or Berlin with me, so we're kinda in the middle of planning that at the moment~ I've wanted to go to Vienna for YEARS, I really really want to see some of Klimt's paintings irl * U * And then, in the summer I miiight be going to Thailand. I really, really, really hope it works out, but it's very up-in-the-air atm.

Oops it's almost 4am and I have waitressing early tomorrow. It's a kids party at the restaurant tomorrow morning... UGH do not want.

Okay, I think that's all for now, I'll catch you soon ! <3

/kiss ur nose/

Ffffff this journal skin is too cute, I wanna poke and roll those little poms so bad ; U ;

Okay updates first. I got my A-Level results back - A A A and A* - it's fucking crazy, I can't believe it!! ☆ミ(o*・ω・)ノ a bad break up plus my mama being in hospital for some time meant I got very, very distracted at one point and fell behind in almost all of my classes. But I worked my ass off to catch up and it's honestly so rewarding to see it's payed off. It also means, if I wanted to go to university after my gap year, I totally could! Which is very exciting, but ah, we'll see.

I've been traveling too. I was soo nervous the first time I flew on an airplane completely by myself, but now I've done four time and I kinda love it ^﹏^; I went to france, which was lovely and also amsterdam with a cool guy and some new friends and I was soo scared before I went, because I get very shy around new people and it's really no fun TT﹏TT;; but everyone was so lovely and it was just a really fun trip heeeee (^//ω//^)ノ♡ and i got to go to a sex museum!!!

I've had such a good summer, it's been so much fun, but the absolute highlight of my summer has to be being a vendor at BUCK. Ever since I started going to conventions I've wanted to be an artist selling my work there, it was so surreal that it actually happened uwaaah.

Friday
After about 2 hours sleep, after which I fell asleep on the floor because I was soo exhausted from making plushies all night, we got the train to Manchester. I totally smashed my face on the train window, because I was so tired ʘ‿ʘ;;; It took about four hours to get there, which was pretty good timing imo and checked into the hotel. I danced around listening to mlp music and did even more sewing gahh until the evening, when it was the Summer Sun Celebration!! The SSC was amazing, I went knowing one guy and I came back with so many new friends. Bronies are fucking crazy, but in the best kind of way<3 It was a huuge concert with some of my favourite brony artists there ever, namely WoodenToaster. Seeing his Rainbow Factory live was amazing, I just got so, so excited and a total bro let me sit on his shoulders - we were so close to the front too!! After that, we wandered about Manchester, in desperate search of a Subway and eventually found somewhere yay ^u^ before meeting more cool people at the train station. I went to bed exhausted and nervous that night, convention opened the next day!!

Saturday and Sunday
Probably the most amazing weekend of my life. Your support was just.. staggering  I was completely overwhelmed by how kind and rocking you guys were, every single person I met was just awesome. You bought all my plushies in under one hour and over the course of the weekend, we sold out on original art and almost sold out on prints! O: I honestly met some of the most wonderful people ever and I've never been so proud to be a brony :') I shared my table with the awesome ReakkorShrike, who drew me such a cutie sketch of my OC. We were also accompanied by :devManasMelts: and Tom, who were both very very awesome. On Sunday night I must have hugged over 100 people :giggle: and then we went out for end-of-con drinks and celebrations, it was quite the inappropriate and hilarious night heh. I could tell you everything, but I'm scared I'll be writing forever haha, sorry and you're welcome ;3

Ahhhhh. I'm feeling like the happiest girl in the world recently. I feel like all the years I've spent drawing are very slowly but surely starting to pay off! That's all my updates for now, I'm going to Greece next tuesday with my two best bunnygirls and if all goes to plan, I'm going to Japan in March!!!! I'll keep you posted.

As always, thank you for all your love and support,

bunny kisses,

I realise it's been awhile, but I just wanted to thank everyone so much for all my birthday messages last week. Honestly, I have been so inactive on deviantART this past year, so I really wasn't expecting anything. I was really touched to receive so many lovely messages and even some giftart too  you are all stars.

I had a wonderful birthday too, I am eighteen now! I spent a lot of time in London over the past two weeks, ahh it's never fun coming home, but in a way it's nice too, 'cause it just makes me want to go back again and again.

It's crazy to me, when I first signed up for deviantART, I was 13 and now I'm 18. Discovering the internet back then was just the best heee. I've certainly change a whole lot since then.. Feeling pretty reflective right now, aw.

Also, I'm finishing up my college courses in a couple of months, just gotta keep working hard for this final bit, kick ass in the exams and then I am free for a whole year. I've got some pretty big plans for my gap year, so watch this space, they'll be plenty of art ;3

Ohh I'm not sure what else to tell you. I quit a job that a hated, because it was soul-sucking and didn't treat it's employees very well.. I am feeling very, very happy to finally quit after two years of that - time to move on the bigger and the better! I love my new work so much more UwU <3

I've also kinda fallen in love with Lana Del Rey. (if you don't like her, that's cool and you don't need to tell me!) I have been playing her literally non-stop and I'm going to see her in London soon!! dasdkhjfdafadlk this is the most excited I've been awhile <33 Especially since I'm kind of a concert virgin; I've never seen anyone I love perform live before, so I am even more excited! hhurrrrr c'mon hurry up hurry up.

I gotta go to ma studies now,

I absolutely adore every single one of you, as always, thanks for your support over the years,

lulu
